Suzy Vernon at the Carlton

In 1928, The Carlton, a building designed by the architect and entrepreneur Joseph Abita, was the popular address in Tunis. Stars and reporters stay there or have a drink at its American Bar.

Suzy Vernon, a great star of French theater and cinema, is welcomed at the Carlton hotel during her performance at the Rossini Theater, the current municipal theater.

This photograph taken by Victor Sebag now sits in large format in the hotel lobby, with another image of the Tunis theater with its rococo facade, a work of Resplandy architecture, bears the star’s name.
